We have almost completed our flu vaccination programme for patients aged over 65 and those with underlying health conditions.
We are now providing flu vaccinations to those healthy patients aged between 50 to 64. If you have not already been contacted please contact the surgery and we can arrange your appointment.
Flu vaccinations are offered to all patients aged 65 and over and for adults and children who have:
We will be advertising the service during September each year and will contact those registered patients who fall into the categories mentioned. If you feel you should be offered a flu vaccine, please speak to a member of the reception team.
We will be running antenatal clinics. If you know you are pregnant, please arrange with reception to see a midwife.
A full range of family planning services are available.
Cervical screening can prevent cancer of the cervix by finding and identifying any abnormal cell changes. Regular smear tests can save your life.
If you require a smear, please let the reception team know that this is what you need in order that they can make a longer appointment for you.
Cervical smears are given to women aged 25 and over every 3 years then every 5 years to women aged over 50. We will send out automatic reminders to our registered patients.
It is very important to make sure that children continue to be protected from infections such as measles, mumps and rubella. Immunisations are carried out by the practice nurse and reception can provide information regarding the correct age to administer different childhood immunisations. Make sure your child remains protected.
We have a wide selection of booklets available for your information.
If you can’t find what you’re looking for, please ask at reception or our nurse team and they will try and help you.
Maple Surgery offer Phlebotomy services to our patients, however we do not offer this to any patients under the age of 14. If a blood test is required, we will advise you how to book this test at the local hospital. Thank you

As part of our team, we have a Social Prescriber / Link Worker.
Many things in life can affect your health and wellbeing. Many people visit our team feeling isolated, lonely or worried about work, housing, money, being a carer or other matters that affect us day to day.
These are things that cannot be fixed by doctors or medicine alone.
Social Prescribing offers the kind of help that doesn’t come in a tube or bottle. The support is there to help connect you to local community services and support networks to help you have more control over your health and wellbeing.
It is focussed on what is important to YOU.
Taking the first step
Social Prescribing can help in many ways, and it usually starts with a conversation. Your Doctor or Nurse may make an introduction for you, or you may contact our Social Prescriber direct.
Our Social Prescriber will then get in touch, and will listen to you, and understand what is important to you. They will work with you to help you:
There are many groups and activities that can help you achieve your goals and your health and wellbeing.
Introductions
Our Social Prescriber can signpost you to support in the community, and nationally, in areas such as:
The support offered is tailored depending on your goals. You may only need to speak with our Social Prescriber once to help you achieve your goals. In other circumstances, you may need more support. Usually, this will be around 6 or 7 contacts.
Appointments with our Social Prescriber vary in time from 15 mins to 1.5 hours, depending on the support you need.

Please speak to your GP or a member of the team about how to access Social Prescribing.

You will be sent a questionnaire prior to your telephone appointment. Please note that we will not carry out the consultation if this questionnaire has not been completed.
